Information We Collect

Account and identity information

We collect information used to create and secure your account, such as your name, email address, account identifier, email-verification status, and sign-in provider. If you sign in with Google or another provider, that provider sends us information you authorize it to share.

Billing and transaction information

We collect records about your checkout, subscription, discounts, invoices, payment status, and related transaction identifiers. Our payment provider, Stripe, collects and processes payment-card and billing details. ByteByteGo Live does not store your full card number or card security code.

Course, cohort, and community information

We collect information needed to provide your membership, including course and cohort enrollments, access status, attendance, submissions, messages, feedback, and community identifiers. Every live session is recorded. If you participate in a recorded session, the recording may include your name, image, voice, screen share, or chat contributions.

Communications

We collect the information you provide when you contact support, answer a survey, or otherwise communicate with us.

Technical and usage information

When you use the Service, we and our providers may automatically receive your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages requested, timestamps, diagnostic events, and security or fraud signals.

How We Collect Information

We collect personal information:

• directly from you when you register, pay, enroll, or contact us;
• from service providers involved in authentication, payment, learning, community access, hosting, and support; and
• automatically through cookies, local storage, server logs, and similar technologies when you use the Service.

How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

• create, authenticate, secure, and support your account;
• process purchases, administer subscriptions, prevent duplicate or fraudulent transactions, and provide billing support;
• deliver courses, cohort enrollment, recordings, and community access;
• communicate service, schedule, account, support, and policy updates;
• operate, troubleshoot, analyze, and improve the Service;
• enforce our terms and protect users, ByteByteGo, and others; and
• comply with legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations.

Cookies and Local Storage

ByteByteGo Live uses cookies and browser storage that are necessary for sign-in, security, checkout continuity, preferences, and core functionality. For example, we use host-specific session and cross-site-request-forgery cookies and store a checkout-attempt identifier in your browser so an interrupted checkout can safely resume. Our authentication, payment, and community providers may set their own cookies when you use their features.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser, but essential parts of the Service may then stop working. ByteByteGo Live does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

How We Disclose Information

We may disclose personal information:

• To service providers. These include Google and Firebase for identity and infrastructure, Magic for email sign-in, Stripe for payments and subscriptions, Circle for cohort and community services, and providers that support hosting, communications, security, and customer service.
• Within our organization. We may share information with ByteByteGo affiliates and personnel who need it to operate the Service.
• For legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our agreements, investigate fraud or abuse, or protect rights, property, and safety.
• In a business transaction. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.
• With your direction or consent. We may disclose information when you ask us to or otherwise consent.

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service and for legitimate business purposes such as security, dispute resolution, and enforcing agreements. We may retain billing, tax, transaction, and compliance records for longer when law requires it. Retention periods vary by the type of information and why we use it.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to appeal our response or complain to a data protection authority. These rights may be subject to legal exceptions.

You may request deletion of your ByteByteGo Live account by emailing us at hi@bytebytego.com from the address associated with your account. After verifying your request, we will delete or deidentify account information that we are not legally required or permitted to retain. You can manage or cancel an active subscription through the billing controls in your account.

International Data Transfers

ByteByteGo and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Third-Party Services and Links

The Service may link to or integrate with third-party services. Their own privacy policies govern information they process for their independent purposes, and we are not responsible for their practices.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy here and update the date above. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when required by law.
